For its 40th anniversary, the expanded 2nd Skafish album reissue, Conversation & The Rejects, is available on CD, digital, and limited edition vinyl via 829 Records. Released on December 29, 2023, the project includes some phenomenal extras for Skafish fans and anyone who is a fan of Punk, New Wave, Alternative, Indie, and Experimental Rock.

The reissue features 21 tracks and over 76 minutes of music across all formats. The songs, written from 1974-1983, include some of the earliest Skafish compositions that date back to the origin of the Chicago punk scene in 1976.

All tracks have been meticulously mastered and remastered by Trevor Sadler (Madonna, Nine Inch Nails, Ramsey Lewis, Steely Dan, and David Byrne). The limited edition 2 LP colored vinyl set was manufactured to the highest industry standards by Smashed Plastic Pressing in Chicago.

The set contains the Conversation album, originally released in September 1983, which had been out of print for decades. Conversation features the song Wild Night Tonight, whose video was one of the first to ever be banned on MTV after just one airing in the fall of 1983.

Also included are The Rejects. These are the 8 studio recordings that were initially submitted and rejected as the main bulk of the 2nd Skafish album in November 1982. I.R.S. Records and CEO Miles Copeland considered these master recordings far too controversial, offensive and shocking to release. These tracks have never been released in any form prior.

Concluding the reissue are 2 live bonus tracks, including Sign Of The Cross from Urgh! A Music War, one of the most well known Skafish recordings to date. This is the original live recording from Frejus, France that was featured in the legendary concert film Urgh! A Music War and on its soundtrack album. For that project, Skafish appeared alongside such artists as Devo, Joan Jett, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Wall Of Voodoo, The Cramps, and The Police, who he also appeared with in the finale of the film.

Both Sign Of The Cross and the other live bonus track, the previously unreleased Beefcake Touch, were recorded when Skafish and his band toured Europe and the UK with such artists as The Police, XTC, UB40, The English Beat, Squeeze, U2 and others.

Since the Conversation album was released 40 years ago, Skafish fans have been asking why his second album was so different from the first. At that time, certain members of the media accused Skafish of selling out. But, that wasn’t the case.

The new liner notes and the tracks that have never been released before will answer those questions, explicitly.
